Providing cupcakes alongside your cake is especially effective if you have a particularly large number of guests and want to make sure they all get a taste of your celebratory delicacy.
Many people design their cupcakes to be miniature versions of their wedding cake.
They use the same kind of cake, frosting, and decoration in order to create a visual and flavor-based match between the two, often serving the cake itself to the wedding party and immediate family while the cupcakes are distributed to the guests.
Some people, however, opt for a more nuanced cupcake plan, serving different types of cupcakes to each table based on the people who are seated there.
You can also go in a different direction and make a large variety of different types of cupcakes, allowing your guests to choose their own.
When planning your cupcakes, flavor and ingredients are important. Do not neglect, however, the important matter of style. Think about the presentation of the cupcakes.
Where will they be served? How will they be arranged? What is the most appropriate or fitting decoration? Will the cupcakes be set up on the cake table, another location, or pre-set on the guests’ tables, or will they be served? As far as decorations go, try to match your cupcakes’ look to the other design elements of your wedding. For example, if you are using a particular theme, find ways to decorate and present the cupcakes that fit that theme.
If you have table decorations, integrate the cupcakes’ presentation into that design in a natural way. Perhaps design the frosting and cupcake-top decoration to match your wedding bouquet or another part of the décor.
