Beyond the titular and obvious “Alice”, what’s not to love about “The Mad Hatter”, the card soldiers, or the magical disappearing Cheshire Cat as a main subject?
There are so many Disney characters and choices within this design vein that the options are truly endless.
In the case of the latter, his iconic grin, so iconic in fact that even without the rest of his body most can readily recognize him, represents a great way for you to show your mischievous and playful side.
Should you choose to use just his trademark grin for your tattoo, a dark featureless backdrop will provide a nice contrast for his sprawling and somewhat sinister looking “smile”. Using only the grin allows for a smaller tattoo as well, if that is what you are looking for.
As for Alice herself, perhaps you might consider a “La Dia de Los Muertos” type look, an approach which would definitely switch things up quite a bit and really challenge observers to rethink just how dainty Alice really is.
The decorative skeletal features (such as the blackened nose and darkened eye sockets) should elicit quite a few “double-take’s”, if not outright gasps.
The afore-mentioned ancillary characters should help to reinforce that it is in fact Alice, albeit a decidedly off-putting iteration, making the effect truly jarring. Turning the well-known and revered children’s tale on its head like this is a great way to create your own unique bit of ink.
Be sure to peruse the following examples for some ideas on how to create your own tattoo based on Alice’s tumble down the rabbit hole.
