Start by washing your hands and shaping your nails with a nail file. Paint on a base coat that will strengthen your nails and provide a smooth surface for all ten finger nails.
Paint your thumb nail, middle finger and pinky finger white. Paint the remaining nails navy blue.
While the first coat dries, look up an anchor online that looks easy to draw. The best shapes will be simple and graphic so that it will read on the smallest surface of your nail.
Take the silver nail polish and draw the anchor on your ring finger. Take a thin brush and dip it in to the navy blue. For all the fingers that are painted in white, paint on thin stripes for a nautical pattern.
After these layers have dried, paint on a clear coat of polish and let set. With a thin brush, draw a loose gold knot to three over the top of the anchor.
The line should be loose and look breezy. After the gold dries, take a thin brush through silver nail polish and redraw the anchor to cover the gold line so that it creates layered dimension between the rope and anchor.
Add one more top coat to all ten fingers fora shiny anchor nail set. For a little extra shine effect, take the white nail polish and clean up any crooked stripes.
You might also draw on highlights over the silver anchor nails to create a little more dimension. Using a lamp with a nail drying light bulb in it can help to cure the polish quickly.
This is a good idea because when you are drawn on thin layers, a quick paint cure can help keep the design in place and helps to prevent smears and mistakes.
Have fun with these summer nails and don’t forget to take photos so that you can collect your beautiful nail art creations!
