Could there be a more majestic, all-power animal than the buffalo?
I for one, absolutely love the buffalo, and that’s not just because we live here in the “Buffalo land” of colorful Colorado.
Of course, the buffalo is a Native American animal that has been a part of their culture for centuries. It’s also an animal with a very powerful spirit, one that you can feel in the way it moves. It is a symbol of strength, endurance, and determination.
The female buffalo has long been associated with the sacred feminine energy of motherhood, fertility, and abundance. In fact, Native Americans believed that the buffalo could only be born when Mother Earth was in balance with Father Sky.
A buffalo tattoo fits women because they are tough. They have been through some tough times, but they always get back up and try again. They are not afraid of challenges or hard work and will not let anything stand in their way, even if it means getting hurt or spending days recovering from a challenge instead of not getting it done.
It shows that women are not afraid to be themselves. They know who they are and what they want out of life. They don’t hide behind masks or try to fit in with other people just because they are prettier than them.
Buffalo tattoos are usually done with black ink because it shows off better than other colors such as red or yellow ink, which helps make your tattoo look more realistic.
Matching feet tattoos can be a great way to go with a discrete, down to earth Bison design. I love the minimalist outline style done in black ink. Note the unique shapes located inside of the body of the Buffalo, which give off the impression of a fibrous coat.
If you want to turn an otherwise masculine animal, or design for that matter into a feminine piece, then just consider adding a wreath of flowers around your main piece. The mix of flowers, alongside leafy greens gives this tough-looking bison tattoo a much softer side. To further tone down this look and give it a gentle touch, they’ve chose to go with a really nice shaded black and grey style. Note the nice dotwork details on the nose area and neck for added depth.
When it comes to neo-traditional tattoo designs, animals of any kind, are for sure the way to go. This beautiful bison leg tattoo is no exception. A large buffalo portrait takes the main focus, while delicate pink-ish orange flower surround the head of the animal. For added meaning, they’ve choose to add a unique collar tag to this animal with a floral printed design.
This may be the most girly bison tattoo I’ve ever seen. Beyond the butterflies, flowers, crescent moon, and green leaves, a pink hue washes over the bison’s face. This very feminine forearm and wrist tattoo is truly beautiful and full of marvelous detail to admire. It’s not one of those tattoos where you just take on look and you say, “oh, I get it”. Nope, there’s so many things going on that you want to stop for a moment and enjoy everything that’s happening with the design. Truly eye-capturing if you ask me!
One of the latest trends these days is taking the silhouette of a bison and adding an inner nature themed detail. In this case, they’ve gone with heavily forested pine trees, negative space mountains, and tiny white ink dots for a night sky full of stars. Placed on the upper chest, this is a cute female tattoo that could honestly go virtually anywhere on the body.
If you want to take the previous tattoo above to the next level, then consider going with a watercolor style outer space night sky. The cosmos, nebulas, colors and stars are just fascinating to look at!
For all my ranchers out there who grew up raising bison, it doesn’t get any better than this sweet tribute animal arm tattoo. The shading work on both the bison head and flowers is truly top-notch! I love the black ink lines that give the impression of realistic bison fiber/fur across the face and lower body. When it comes to arm tattoo placements, this shoulder to bicep area design is one of my favorites for females.
Go old-school, and consider this traditional bison tattoo featuring brown fiber, a green wreath, yellow flower, and red ribbon banner detail. This design could easily go great on either the arm, forearm or leg.
Buffalo tattoo meanings and symbolism:
What do Buffalo animal themed designs mean and symbolize?: Buffalos are closely associated with strength, abundance, and power. In Native American cultures, the buffalo is a sacred animal that represents abundance, fertility, and plenty. The buffalo was also important to the Plains Indians for its meat, hides, and bones which were used to make tools and weapons. In addition to being an important source of food and shelter, the buffalo was also seen as a symbol of courage and perseverance.
The Plains Indians had a great reverence for the buffalo due to its size and strength. The tribes believed that the spirit of the buffalo resided in each individual’s heart; it was believed that if someone were brave enough they could tap into this power within them. This spiritual connection was so strong that some tribes would go on vision quests in search of spiritual guidance from their ancestors or through dreams. The buffalo was also seen as a provider of sustenance; its meat provided nourishment during times of scarcity and its hide provided shelter from harsh weather conditions.
The Buffalo is often seen as a symbol of abundance because it can provide so much in terms of resources such as food, clothing, tools, weapons etc., but it is also seen as a symbol of prosperity due to its ability to reproduce rapidly when given proper care and habitat conditions. Buffalo herds used to roam freely across North America before European settlement began; however today these herds are managed by conservation organizations such as the National Park Service (NPS). The NPS works hard to ensure that there are healthy populations of bison across North America by managing hunting regulations and providing suitable habitats for them to live in.
In addition to being an important source of resources for Native Americans; the Buffalo has become an important symbol for many other cultures around the world due to its association with strength, abundance, prosperity and courage. In China it is believed that having pictures or statues of buffalos can bring good luck into one’s home or business; while in India having pictures or statues may be seen as symbols of wealth or even protection from evil spirits or bad luck depending on where you place them within your home or office space.. In Africa buffaloes are revered animals because they represent stability since they remain loyal throughout their entire lives while remaining faithful protectors over their family units no matter what obstacles arise..
So many different cultures throughout history have held Buffaloes in high regard; not only do they represent physical strength but they also stand for mental fortitude which can help us overcome any obstacle life throws our way no matter how difficult it may seem at first glance.. They are symbols of fertility which remind us that anything we put our minds too can be achieved with dedication patience & persistence even if we don’t succeed right away.. Buffalos serve as reminders that working together with others towards common goals will always yield better results than trying alone – something all women, regardless culture, race or religion should remember!
