Top 100 Best Depression Tattoos For Women – Mental Health Design Ideas

Depression is no joke, and dealing with it is no walk in the park. Tattoos can be one way to remember your struggle while also celebrating yourself and your own journey.

Getting a tattoo can also be one way to work through a depressive period by indulging your creative side, and you will have the satisfaction of having a piece of art on your skin forever.

Sometimes doing something for yourself can get you through the hard times.

Since depression is something that must be traveled through, every little thing can help, including the words or images of other people.

Imagine being depressed and looking down at your arm or leg and seeing a quote to help carry you through the hard times, or a portrait of someone you love. These tattoos can remind you of what’s important.

Color therapy is also another option. When you’re feeling blue, or are in a black mood, a super bright and colorful tattoo may just lift you out of the doldrums.

Interesting geometric patterns paired with wild and crazy colors can brighten up your skin every day and inject a burst of life into an otherwise colorless day.

If you have dealt with depression in the past and want to celebrate your recovery, what better way to do so than with a tattoo? You could get the date of your recovery tattooed on your wrist or ankle where you can see it each day and remember how far you’ve come.

Instead of denying your depression, attempt to overcome it and look forward to better times by getting a tattoo that will empower you to get to the next level.

No one can take away the lessons you’ve learned, and a tattoo is a great reminder.

Depression tattoo meanings and symbolism:

What do depression themed designs mean and symbolize?:

Depression is a complex and multifaceted condition that can have devastating consequences on the lives of those affected. Its symptoms can range from feeling down or blue, to severe changes in mood and behavior, making life more difficult for individuals suffering from depression. As such, it can be helpful to use symbolic language to help us understand this condition and its effects on our lives.

Depression is often symbolized by an abyss or dark hole – an endless pit with no escape in sight. This image captures the sense of powerlessness and helplessness that accompanies depression; the feeling of being trapped in a place without any hope of getting out. It also speaks to the overwhelming feelings of hopelessness, despair, emptiness, and isolation that are often associated with depression. The darkness of the abyss can represent how one’s joy has been snuffed out by this illness; colorless days replaced by gray ones filled with pain and anguish.

Depression has also been likened to quicksand – an ever-shifting landscape that forces one to constantly struggle against its pull just to stay afloat. This analogy reflects how difficult it is for someone with depression just to get through each day; a seemingly never-ending battle against invisible forces beyond their control. Women can find themselves sinking deeper into this mire as they try desperately yet unsuccessfully to break free from its grasp; much like a girl trying fruitlessly to escape quicksand only succeeds in sinking further into it instead.

The idea of being stuck inside a “black box” has been used as another metaphor for depression, describing how those affected feel cut off from the rest of the world. You know, being unable even to communicate your experience despite all attempts made at doing so. This symbolizes not only physical confinement but emotional entrapment too. No matter what you do or say you cannot reach outside your own impenetrable walls, which seem impossible to scale or breach from within alone.

Sometimes women dealing with depression may feel like they are walking through fog. It’s an impenetrable mist clouding everything around you until nothing appears clear anymore. Everything is shrouded in confusion and uncertainty while you stumble forward blindly unsure when you will reach solid ground; again if ever at all…

This expression speaks volumes about how disorienting living with this illness can be; every step taken uncertainly into unknown territory as one struggles. Simply trying make your way through each day towards some destination unseen can be a difficult task that seems darn near impossible.

Depression is sometimes compared with being lost at sea too. I view it as being surrounded by vast expanses stretching far beyond visibility, while battling turbulent waves crashing threateningly all around. Of course, you’re amid powerful winds pummeling too which push against your boat’s sails. All of which makes your wonder: Do you have any chance of returning home unharmed? This conveys both feelings of aimlessness coupled together alongside fear about what might lie waiting ahead for anyone brave enough venture forth. Dangerous waters without any promise whatsoever reaching shore, can be enough to make anyone want to just throw in the towel, but don’t!

Perhaps most widely known symbolism associated with depression tattoo designs is this: A heavy weight pressing down upon one’s chest; An oppressive force weighing heavily yet invisibly crushing out any remaining light left alive inside… A burden hard enough bear that many feel like giving up on life altogether. Under its suffocating weightiness, threatening to swallow us whole as we sink. Yelp!
