Use a freestanding arch, decorated with flowers and greenery as a backdrop to the ceremony. You could also use fabric to wrap around the arch to create an ethereal and dreamy backdrop.
Decorate fences and tree trunks with ribbons, fabric or wired lights. You can also hang fairy lights in the limbs of trees.
This is especially beautiful if your reception will continue after dark. You could also hang mason jars filled with battery operated votive lights from tree branches. If your wedding is taking place in the hot summer months, consider ways to make your guests more comfortable. Offer pretty lace parasols or stylish sunglasses to help shade from the sun.
You could also offer personalized trucker style hats for a more casual affair. Put up large white tents so guests who are sensitive to the sun can find shade and consider bringing in misting fans if the temperature is high.
Alternately, if you are expecting cooler temperatures for your wedding, provide lap blankets for guests. Consider buying blankets in your wedding colors and allowing guests to take them home as a favor at the end of the night.
If the budget allows, have your wedding date silk screened on to each of the blankets as a reminder of the special day.
