Whether fancy or casual, the Half-Up is an excellent choice.
What is it? It’s a style where most of your hair is down, but a section of your hair is up. You can glam the hairstyle with sparkly accessories, or you can keep it understated by merely pinning the “up” part with bobby pins that match your hair color.
There are various ways you can rock the Half-Up. For example, you can leave your long, wavy hair down, but pull the front of your hair back and pin it with a pretty barrette. Or, take your long wavy hair, pull it into a ponytail, but secure the ponytail with elastic (safe for hair) on the top of your head. This effect creates a fountain of curls down your face, to your shoulders, and beyond.
Got dreads? You can take your locs, pull a few back, and secure with a barrette, elastic, or whatever you choose. Then pull a couple of the locs out and let them cascade down in front.
Or, take your long, straight hair and create two braids from the front of each side. Pull those braids back to the center of your head and then tie the ends together. Decorate your hair with flowers or some other fairy look.
The Half-Up is perfect for any hair type, as long as the hair is long enough. Your hair should be no shorter than falling at the bottom of the nape of your neck.
This is a hairstyle that is easy to maintain because it’s not a severe style that grows out fast and requires the touch of a professional stylist every four to six weeks. So, to put it bluntly, this is a style that’s perfect for the lazy among us. However, make sure your hair is clean, shiny, and free of split ends, at least.
